This week, the Euro Hockey Championships are taking place in Amsterdam. Both Men and Women are competing at the Wagener Stadium to take the 2021 trophy home. All matches are played on a GreenFields TX pitch that was installed in 2017, prior to the Euro Hockey Championships of 2017.
Developed to excel at international competitions, GreenFields TX pitches have a very fast ball speed, thanks to the high-density fibres in every square metre of turf. The multi-layered backing is designed to hold water better – meaning less water is needed to irrigate the field beforehand - and with no drying out of the pitch during the game, play remains fast and consistent throughout the match. This elite water-based system provides the ultimate smooth playing surface combined with high speed, incredible precision, and control.
This is the second European Championship played on the same TX pitch, proving the pitch is extremely durable and of superior quality. Last February, the pitch was tested by an FIH Accredited Test Institute and shown to still satisfy the performance and construction requirements of a Global category field. The field at the Wagener Stadium is re-certified until February 2023.
